Dentures and Partials

Properly caring for your denture or partial is essential for keeping it looking great, functioning well, and lasting as long as possible. At Harbortown Dental Care, Dr. Faircloth and our team are happy to walk you through everything you need to know.

Here are some key tips to get you started.

Denture Care 101

To keep your denture or partial in excellent condition, we recommend:

  • Rinse after eating. Remove and rinse your denture or partial after meals to clear away food particles and debris.
  • Brush daily. Choose a soft-bristled brush and a denture cleaner that's non-abrasive to gently brush all surfaces, avoiding toothpaste, which can cause scratching.
  • Soak overnight. Most dentures and partials need to stay moist to maintain their shape. Place yours in water or a denture-soaking solution each night before bed.
  • Clean your mouth too. Before reinserting your denture or partial, gently brush your gums, tongue, and any remaining natural teeth to maintain good oral hygiene.
  • Handle carefully. Always clean your denture or partial over a sink filled with water or a towel to cushion any accidental drops.
  • Schedule regular checkups. Routine visits with Dr. Faircloth ensure your denture or partial continues to fit properly and that your overall oral health stays on track.

If you ever notice discomfort, cracks, or a change in fit, don't wait. Give Harbortown Dental Care a call right away at (313) 259-2410. We're here to help!
